Chairman’s Introduction

Mark Jones

Mark Jones began his police career in the early 1970s and served in traffic and roads policing through every rank up to Superintendent. Around two-thirds of his service focused on enforcement, collision investigation, and casualty reduction, including nearly twenty years in regional and national roles representing ACPO Traffic and the PSAEW NEC. His work took him across the UK and internationally to study road-safety initiatives.

Alongside this, Mark held supervisory and command roles in response, public order, major incidents, and local policing. After retirement, he provided consultancy for Honda UK and led security and emergency service coordination for four European Ryder Cup events.

A NARPO member since 2000 and Chairman since 2010, he remains dedicated to supporting retired officers and promoting welfare, policing, and road-safety issues.

Our Branch has a membership of just over 800 members. There are varying types of membership categories in accordance with Narpo rules. The categories are full membership, associate membership, widow(er) membership, additional membership and life membership. Many of our members still live locally but our branch also has numerous members who live elsewhere in the UK and abroad.

New members are always very welcome and if you feel you are eligible, please contact our secretary to discuss your potential membership application.

The Warwickshire branch is very keen to follow locally the core beliefs of Narpo which are to safeguard the rights of its members; assist officers transitioning out of the police service into retirement or second careers; to provide direction and guidance on topics such as financial and pension support; to provide initial support and guidance on welfare and health related matters and to support the national campaigns led by Narpo.

In Warwickshire we are very welfare conscious and have a network of volunteers who do sterling work supporting members who have various challenges in their lives.   We also get together socially and have four meetings a year around the County usually at Stratford upon Avon, Kenilworth, Rugby and Nuneaton.

The branch is run by the committee and we have members representing the offices of President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare and Communications.   The committee meets quarterly with an AGM in March of every year.   The branch also has a presence on social media via Facebook.

We hope you get value from accessing the Warwickshire website. If you have any queries, please contact our secretary. Please also remember there is the national website which has comprehensive information on many matters that Narpo engages with.

Thank you,

Mark Jones
